Heating & Plumbing FAQs

As experienced heating and plumbing experts, we provide a wide range of services for both commercial and residential clients in Dorset & Hampshire, from boiler repairs, to bathroom installation, to resolving gas leaks. In order to help you better understand our heating and plumbing services, we have put together this list of answers to the most frequently asked questions we receive.

Are you Gas Safe Registered?

Yes. All of our heating and plumbing engineers are Gas Safe Registered, which means that they are qualified to carry out any necessary boiler maintenance or installations safely and to an excellent standard.

Do you carry out bathroom fit outs?

Yes, our team can carry out full bathroom installations, including shower, toilet, bath and sink fittings. If you are unsure what kind of bathroom you want, our team can also help you with the design!

A water pipe has burst – what do I do?

The first thing you should do is call a plumber. Once you’ve done that, completely turn off your water supply so that the situation does not become any worse. If you believe that water may have entered a plug socket or the fuse box, turn off your electricity as well. We will endeavour to get a plumber out to you as soon as possible.

I think I have a gas leak – what do I do?

If you believe that you have a gas leak, you should contact a professional immediately and evacuate your home or premises. Exposure to gas can cause a number of reactions in the body, like headaches, dizziness, nausea, eye and throat irritation, as well as breathing problems.

We can handle all gas works and repairs – contact us on 01202 474001 and we will get an engineer out to you as soon as possible.

What are the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning?

Carbon monoxide is often referred to as ‘the silent killer’ – it has no smell, taste or sound and is the result of a faulty boiler, heater or cooker.  Symptoms of exposure include:

  • Tiredness
  • Nausea
  • Headaches
  • Stomach pains
  • Blurred vision
  • Muscle spasms

If you use natural gas to heat the hot water in your home, then it is important to install a carbon monoxide alarm. We are able to install one for you and fix any faulty heating systems that may be causing the problem. Contact us today.

How do I know if I need a new boiler?

If your boiler is older than 10-12 years old, then it is definitely worth considering a replacement; this is because older boilers tend not to be as energy efficient as newer ones and may be costing you a lot to run.

A working boiler shouldn’t need to be serviced more than once a year, so if you find that you are having to book in multiple repairs a year, then it may be more cost-effective to consider a new one.

Our team can provide you with expert guidance on the state of your boiler and help you decide if a repair or replacement would be the best option for you. Contact our team to arrange an inspection.

How quickly can you arrive to fix my plumbing or heating problem?

Our arrival time will depend on a number of factors, including the availability of our engineers and existing schedule. However, if you have a serious property maintenance issue, like a gas leak, then we will endeavour to have someone over to you as soon as possible.

What locations do you provide property maintenance services in?

We primarily provide our property maintenance services across South Dorset and West Hampshire, however, we have also carried out work for projects as far away as Plymouth and up the M3 corridor to London.

What happens if I am unsatisfied with the work?

In the unlikely event that our plumbing and heating service is not up to standard, then you should contact our team as soon as possible. We process all complaints in a professional manner and will endeavour to rectify the problem.
